Jack Midgley

Jack Midgley is recognized as one of the world’s most broad-gauged and eclectic strategy consultants. He advises private and public sector C-level clients on product and service innovation, market entry and growth, and business transformation. Jack’s clients include top defense leaders in the US, Japan, Europe and the Middle East, and corporations ranging from venture-backed startups to Fortune 50 enterprises. His work encompasses assignments related to Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 and Defense Transformation, localization of Saudi Arabia’s defense industry, Japan’s first initiative to export a major defense system, early efforts to commercialize Chinese state-owned enterprises, globalization strategy for Korean companies, post-merger integration of European and American companies, and product development for internet and defense-oriented technology companies.
Jack led Deloitte’s Asia-Pacific Defense practice in Tokyo. He began his 35-year consulting career at McKinsey’s Aerospace and Defense practice.
Jack served in Afghanistan as an Army civilian advisor (HQE) to the Commander, International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF), working with top US, NATO and Afghan leaders on security transition, detention operations, and rule of law issues. He advised the first two four-star Chiefs of the US National Guard Bureau as they adapted their organization and command and control practices to the Chief’s new role as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Dr. Midgley created and teaches “The Economics of Saudi Influence” and “Defense Policy Analysis” semester-length courses for graduate students in Georgetown’s Security Studies program. Earlier, he created and taught the semester-length MBA course in “Leading Transformational Change” for rising Saudi professionals at Al Faisal University in Riyadh. Jack taught graduate economics and management courses at Carnegie-Mellon’s Heinz School and the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. As Associate Professor in West Point’s Department of Social Sciences, Jack directed the Academy’s National Security Seminar and taught economics and international politics.
Jack’s ideas have been featured in hundreds of broadcast interviews and articles in global media including Bloomberg, CNBC, the New York Times, Financial Times, Asahi-Shimbun, Al Arabiya, NHK, RT, China Daily, CGTN, Dong-a Ilbo, and major US networks.
Jack earned a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.P.P. from Harvard University, and a B.S. in engineering from West Point. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
